Vocabulary

biosphere all the parts of Earth where there is life.
geosphere Earth's solid and molten rocks, soil and sediment.
sediment material that forms when rocks are broken down into smaller pieces or dissolved in water.
magma molten or liquid rock underground.
lava molten rock that erupts on Earth's surface.
hydrosphere system containing all the liquid water on Earth.
atmosphere the layer of gases surrounding Earth.
cryosphere all of the frozen water on Earth.
system group of parts that work together as a whole
energy ability to do work
volcano a vent in Earth’s crust through which molten rock flows.
