Monophasic fixed dose of estrogen & progestin throughout 21 days
Biphasic estrogen remains same & progestin levels vary (up 1st 1/2, decrease 2nd)
Triphasic estrogen levels remain same, progestin varies throughout month, closest to normal cycle
Combo Pills MOA Estrogen suppresses FSH & LH while progestin thickens cervial mucous & thins uterine lining
ACHES abdominal pain, chest pain (shortness of breathe), headache (severe), eye pain, severe leg pain & swelling
Yasmin & Yaz have what unique progesterone drospirenone - which has K+ sparing actions, allowing Na excretion & with it water
Contraindications to combined OC clot Hx, immobile, long bone fracture, uncontrolled hypertension, history of estrogen + breast cancer
