Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER)
| Term | Definition |

| Data | scientific information |
| Hypothesis | an educated guess; "I believe...", "I think....", "I feel...." An "If.......then....." statement |
| Conclusion | an explanation based on your observation or measurement |
| Experiment | a controlled test or investigation to try to prove your hypothesis |
| Question | the asking of something |
| Measurement | a number that shows the size or amount of something, usually in meter, liters, or grams |
| Investigate | to study by close examination and questioning |
| Organize | to arrange and plan |
| Claim (the answer) | a statement that you believe to be true that solves a scientific question or problem |
| Evidence (the clues) | The "proof" that justify's the claim. Evidence should be gathered through experiments, observations, or research. |
| Reasoning (the why) | how to connect the evidence to the claim, or knowing you're correct |
