CER

Claim, Evidence, Reasoning (CER)

TermDefinition
Data scientific information
Hypothesis an educated guess; "I believe...", "I think....", "I feel...." An "If.......then....." statement
Conclusion an explanation based on your observation or measurement
Experiment a controlled test or investigation to try to prove your hypothesis
Question the asking of something
Measurement a number that shows the size or amount of something, usually in meter, liters, or grams
Investigate to study by close examination and questioning
Organize to arrange and plan
Claim (the answer) a statement that you believe to be true that solves a scientific question or problem
Evidence (the clues) The "proof" that justify's the claim. Evidence should be gathered through experiments, observations, or research.
Reasoning (the why) how to connect the evidence to the claim, or knowing you're correct
