| Test tube | A clear U-shaped glass or plastic container that holds, mix, or heat chemicals and liquids. |
| Graduated cylinder | A narrow shaped lab equipment used to measure the volume of liquids. |
| Flammable | Capable of being easily set on fire or burn quickly. |
| Corrosive | Capable of being eaten away or destroyed. |
| Caution | To give a warning, to be careful, and show attention. |
| Safety | The condition of being protected from danger or injury. |
| Hazard | A danger or risk. |
| Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) | Protective clothing and gear designed to protect the wearer's body from injury or infection. |
| Beaker | A plastic or glass lab container used to measure and collect liquids, hold chemical reactions, prepare , mix, and heat solutions. |
| Data | A collection of information that can be analyzed and used to understand things. |
| Construct | To build, make, or create. |
| X-axis | The horizontal (right → left) line on the graph |
| Y-axis | The vertical (up & down) line on the graph. |
| Title | Gives a brief statement that appears at the top of the graph that describes the graph’s subject. |
| Key | Also known as a legend. It is a list or note on a graph that explains the meaning of each symbol or variable used on a graph. |
| Negative correlation | Graph that shows all of the data points in a pattern moving down from left to right. |
| Positive correlation | Graph that shows all of the data points moving up from left to right. |
| Proportional Relationship | Shows the relationship between two quantities or variables. |
| Claim | A one-sentence statement that answers the question. |
| Evidence | Data or research that supports your claim. |
| Reasoning | Uses scientific principles to explain why the evidence supports and connects the data to the claim. |
| Argument | A claim backed by reasons supported by evidence. |
| Support | Support is the evidence or appeal they use to convince the reader to believe the claim. |
| Hypothesis | An educated guess or prediction about what will happen in an experiment. |
| Observation | Involves watching and recording details about an event using one's senses. |
| Analyze | To explore, explain, and separate into parts for close studying. |
| Scientific Method | A problem-solving process and steps that use experiments and observations to answer questions. |
| Inference | The process of drawing conclusions based on evidence and reasoning. |
| Control variable | The variable that stays the same in an experiment. |
| Independent variable | The variable that you intentionally change. |
| Dependent variable | The variable that changes as a result of another variable. |
| Conclusion | A summary of results or the answer to your question. |
| Qualitative Observations/Data | Involves descriptions, appearance, behaviors, or based on your five senses. |
| Quantitative Observations/Data | Involves measurable, numbers, statistics, or weight. |
