Characteristics of Life

QuestionAnswer
What are cells? A cell is a membrane-bound structure that contains all of the materials necessary for life (has all the characteristics of life).
What is Energy Metabolism Activities that may include making food, breaking down food, moving materials in and out of the cell, and building cells.
What is Growth and Development? Organisms develop as they change, mature, and go through different stages.
Define "What responds to Stimuli" All living things can sense change in their environment and respond to that change. Living things respond to immediate and long-term changes in their environment
Define "Homeostasis" Homeostasis- Even when external conditions change (ex: temperature, light, blood sugar, etc), changes inside an organism must stay the same.
Define why groups of animal evolve over time. When a population (species) changes over a long period of time in response to their environment to help their survival.
Define DNA. (deoxyribonucleic acid) is the genetic code that contains instructions on how an organism needs to develop, live and reproduce.
