How does the Earth’s System protect life on Earth and insulate the planet?

TermDefinition
Geosphere The part of Earth containing all land and rocks above and below Earth's surface
Biosphere All of the living or once living items on Earth.
Hydrosphere The sphere composed of all of the liquid water on Earth.
Cryosphere The sphere composed of all of the frozen water on Earth.
Atmosphere The sphere composed of all of the gas on Earth like air and exists as layers above Earth's surface. It is also the only sphere that surrounds all of Earth like a blanket.
Qualitative observation An observation made with the 5 senses
Quantitative observations An observation made by measuring or counting
Mesosphere The coldest layer of the atmosphere. Second thickest layer.
Stratosphere The layer of the atmosphere that protects life on Earth by absorbing harmful UV radiation.
Thermosphere The layer of the atmosphere that is the thickest layer and where the space shuttle and International space station orbit.
Troposphere The layer of the atmosphere that is the closet to Earth. Living things can exist in this layer.
