Parts and their Functions

nosepiece movable circular structure that houses all the objective lenses
head holds & connects the eyepieces to the objective lenses
eyepiece part is used to look at the specimen
objective lenses lenses that is closest to the specimen; magnifies the specimen
arm supports the microscope head and attaches it to the
slide clips hold the specimen slides in place
stage section in which the specimen is placed for viewing
course adjustment used for focusing the image under low power magnification
fine adjustment used to sharpen the image
base bottom supports the microscope
light source also called the illuminator as it can be a bulb or mirror
diaphragm primary role is to control the amount of light that reaches the specimen
