Earth's Changing Climate Vocabulary

| albedo | a measure of how much sunlight's reflected away from a surface |
| analyze | to examine in detail for a purpose |
| carbon dioxide | a molecule made of carbon and oxygen atoms |
| climate change | changes in climate over a long period of time that can be caused by natural events |
| climate impact | the effect of natural or human caused events on Earth's weather and temperature patterns |
| combustion | the process of burning fuels, which produces carbon dioxide |
| convert | to change from one type to another |
| criteria | standards by which something may be judged |
| dossier | a set of related documents about a particular topic |
| energy | the ability to make things move or change |
| engineer | a person who uses math and science to design things |
| evidence | information about the natural world that is used to support or go against (refute) a claim |
| historic value | a measure of the historical importance of a building or object, which makes it worth preserving |
| intern | beginners at a workplace who do work that is closely supervised because they are learning on the job |

| optimize | to improve (a design) as much as possible considering all criteria and possible trade-offs |
