| runoff | water that is not absorbed into the ground |
| humidity | the measure of the amount of water vapor in the air |
| wind | air moving in different directions |
| polar zone | climate zone farthest away from the equator, very cold |
| condensation | starts as a gas and cools to a liquid |
| grassland | a large open area covered with grass that has mild, warm temperatures |
| swamp | humid, wet environment that gets a lot of precipitation |
| barometer | tool that measures air pressure |
| hail | type of precipitation that occurs during a thunderstorm during warmer weather |
| sleet | snow that melts then refreezes as it comes to earth |
| air pressure | the weight of air pressing down on earth |
| temperate zone | type of climate that gets both warm and cool weather throughout the year |
| tropical zone | type of climate where it is warm all the time, closest to the equator |
| desert | type of environment that is dry, hot, and little precipitation |
| rainforest | type of environment that has a lot of rain and is very humid |
| hygrometer | tool that measures humidity |
| tundra | a type of environment that is very cold and little precipitation |
