What is Rosacea? A chronic condition that results in a dilation of superficial blood vessels on the cheeks and nose and causes papules and pustules.
How do you get Rosacea? Heat, sunlight, severe sunburn, stress, anxiety , cold wind.
What can you do internally to prevent Rosacea? Avoid spicy foods and drinks such as hot tea and coffee. Foods high in histamines, such as red wine, beer, cured pork products, such as bacon, aged cheese and yogurt.
What are histamines? They are an important protein involved in many allergic reactions. They trigger the body's inflammatory responses.
What is a papule? A solid elevation of the skin with no visible fluid, varying in size from a pin head to 5mm.
What is a pustule? A small elevation of the skin containing cloudy, purulent (pus) material usually consisting of necrotic inflammatory cells.
What is proteolytic? A group of enzymes that break the long chainlike molecules of proteins into shorter fragments.
What is telangiectasia? Capillaries that may be distended, swollen, dilated, sometimes found with papules and pustules. A result of rosacea.
What are endothelial cells? These are found within the thin wall lining the interior surface of blood vessels. These cells reduce turbulence of the flow of blood allowing the fluid to be pumped farther.
What is collagen? A group of naturally occurring proteins. Collagen fibers are bundles of fibrils. A.K.A The glue that holds the body together.
What are the components of Collagen One? Skin, tendon, vascular, ligature, organs, bone (main component of bone)
What is a peptide? messengers that triggers specific action by other cells
What is a protein? They are a chain of amino acids. Basically, you take each amino acid and put it together to form a chain.
Describe amino acids They are the building blocks of proteins.
How many amino acids are there? 20 and 9 are essential and must be supplied by the diet.
