| Term | Definition |

| Interphase: | Chromosomes are copied and appear as threadlike coils. This is the longest phase out of them all |
| Prophase: | Mitosis begins - Centrioles appear and begin to move to opposite ends of the cell. Spindle fibers form between the Centriole |
| Metaphase: | Chromatids attach to the spindle fibers |
| Anaphase: | Chromatids separate and begin to move to opposite ends of the cell |
| Telophase: | Two new nuclei form, Chromosomes appear as chromatin and mitosis ends here. |
| Cytokinesis: | Cell membrane moves inward to create two daughter cells - each with its own nucleus with identical chromosomes. |
