TermDefinition
Scientific Theory Explains why or how something happens; supported by evidence
Hypothesis a testable explanation about something based on prior knowledge and observations
Scientific Law a statement describing what always happens under certain conditions. They are accepted to be true and universal and sometimes expressed as a single equation.
Microorganism a very small living thing
Disease harmful change causing sickness
Infectious a disease that can be spread from one organism to another
Cholera a bacterial disease usually spread through contaminated water
Epidemic when an infectious disease spreads widely in a community during a specific period
Outbreak the sudden start of something unwelcome, such as a war or disease
Bacteria Prokaryotic, microscopic, single-celled organisms; exist in every environment, both inside and outside other organisms; some are harmful, but most are useful
