TermDefinition
dormancy A period when an organism's growth or activity stops.
environment The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates.
function The special, normal, or proper action or behavior of an organ or body part.
habitat The natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism.
inherited traits Characteristics that are passed from parent to offspring.
learned behavior A behavior that has been learned from experience or observation.
migration To move from one place to another in search of food, water, or different temperature
offspring Product of reproduction, a new organism produced by one or more parents.
species A group of living organisms consisting of similar individuals capable of producing offspring.
structure A body part that does a certain "job" for an organism.
survive To stay alive.
hibernate To spend the winter in a resting state.
instinctive behavior A behavior that a living thing does naturally without learning it.
instincts The biologically determined and innate patterns of behavior that exist in both people and animals.
