1:2 Phases, Eclipses, and Tides

QuestionAnswer
Moon Phases The different appearances of the illuminated portion of the moon as seen by an observer, usually on Earth.
Eclipses Caused by one object passing into the shadow of another object. (Two main types... Solar & Lunar)
Solar Eclipse The blocking of sunlight to Earth that occurs when the moon is between the sun and Earth.
Lunar Eclipse The blocking of sunlight to the moon that occurs when Earth is directly between the sun and moon.
Tides The periodic rise and fall of sea level caused by the gravitational pull of the Moon on the Earth.
Gravity The force of attraction between any two objects in the universe. (The larger the object... the more force it has.)
