dependent Relying on someone or something else for support.
dormancy A period when an organism's growth or activity slows.
hibernation The deep sleep like state that an animal enters for most of the winter.
structures Specific body parts.
functions The action or behavior of a body part.
adaptation Special features or skills that organisms have or use to allow them to survive in their environment.
inherited trait A characteristic that is passed from parent to offspring.
acquired trait Developed or learned; not naturally occurring.
instinct A behavior that an organism inherits.
learned behavior A behavior that has been learned from experience or observation.
