Herbivores an organism that is a primary consumers and eats plants
Primary consumers gains energy straight from producers/herbivores
Carnivores most secondary and tertiary consumers. Kill and eat other animals
Omnivores eats both plants and animals
Secondary consumers Omnivores or carnivores. Eaten by tertiary consumers. Third layer of food chain
Tertiary consumers gain energy from other animals. Eat secondary consumers
Decomposers break down non living matter into simpler parts for it to be given back to community
Detritivores consume non living matter
Trophic levels rank in feeding hierarchy
Biomass total amount of living tissue a trophic level contains
The ten percent rule only ten percent of biomass is transferred between trophic levels theoretically
