| What is the leading cause of a hysterectomy? | D.U.B. (dysfunctional uterine bleeding) |
| What is DUB | vaginal bleeding that is an abnormal amount, duration, or time of occurrence. It is usually related to hormonal imbalances or pelvic tumors, either benign or malignant. |
| What interventions would physicians chose before they proceed with a hysterectomy? | They would begin with therapeutic dilation and curettage (D&C)where the uterine wall is scraped, then endometrial ablation (to remove (ablate) or destroy the endometrial lining of a woman's uterus), then hysterectomy. |
