| clouds | a mass of tiny water droplets or ice crystals that float in the air above earth |
| condensation | the change in a state from gas to liquid |
| crystallization | when water freezes and collects a frozen form |
| density | the measurement of how tightly a material is packed together |
| earth systems | the four main physical systems of the earth |
| geosphere | all of the rock at and below Earth's surface |
| glacier | any large mass of ice that moves slowly over land |
| groundwater | water that fills cracks and spaces in underground soil and rock layers |
| hydrosphere | all the water at and near the surface of the Earth, 97% of which is in oceans |
| landform | a naturally-formed feature on the surface on earth, such as a coastline, dune, or mountain. |
| pathway | how water moves on land due to gravity |
| precipitation | any form of water that falls from clouds and reaches Earths surface as rain, snow, sleet or hail |
| runoff | water that flows over the ground surface rather than soaking into the ground |
| transpiration | evaporation of water from the leaves of a plant |
| water cycle | the continual movement of water among Earth's atmosphere, oceans, and land surface through evaporation,condensation, and precipitation |
