What are the six key qualities? | GRMJCS: Good Character, Reliability, Maturity, Judgement, Communication, Social awareness |
How are magistrates selected? | Applications given to local advisory committee, then undergo two interviews. + Consider how the bench reflects community |
What is the first interview in magistrate selection for? | assess some key qualities, visits to court, application form |
What is the second interview in magistrate selection for? | assess judgement, and other outstanding key qualities |
How are magistrates appointed? | Advisory committee refers application to the senior presiding judge, who may appoint them as a lay justice to a particular area |
