Parturition | More commonly known as labor this is when a baby is born and the placenta expelled from the uterus. |
Perineum | the pelvic floor structure; between the vaginal opening and the anus |
Peritoneum | the membrane that coats the viscera and lines the abdominal cavity |
Placenta | a vascular structure that allows the fetus in utero to absorb oxygen and nutrients and excrete carbon dioxide |
Polyhydramnios | Too much amniotic fluid. |

Primigravida | a woman who is pregnant with her first child |

Puerperal sepsis | another term for childbed fever or death following childbirth |
