Biotic factors Living community
Abiotic factors Nonliving factors (temperature, gases, water, nutrients, and other chemicals)
Ecology Is the scientific study of interactions of organisms within their environments
Population An interacting group of individuals of one species living in the same geographical area
Community The assembly of all organisms living together, and potential interacting in a particular area
Ecosystem All organisms living in a particular area, as well as all nonliving physical components of the environment that affect the organisms, such as air, soil, and sunlight
Population density The number of individuals of a particular species in one area
Competition Interactions between two organisms to obtain a resource that is required for survival and is unlimited supplies
Allopathy One of the competing organisms produces a chemical substance to inhibit the growth of other species
