| It is the job of the respiratory system to... | bring in air containing oxygen into the body and remove carbon dioxide and water from the body. |
| As you breath in, air travels through the following pathway to bring oxygen to your bloodstream: | Nose, Pharynx, Trachea, Bronchus, Lungs, Alveoli |
| Nose | Where air enters the body |
| Pharynx(throat) | air moves from the nose into the throat, or pharynx |
| Trachea(windpipe) | tube that leads from the pharynx toward the lungs. Lined with cilia(hair like extensions that sweep mucus upward into the throat) |
| Bronchi | passages that direct air into the lungs from the trachea |
| Lung | Contain tiny sacs of tissue called alveoli for gas exchange |
| Alveoli | Where oxygen from the air passes through to capillary and into the blood. Carbon dioxide and water pass from the blood to the alvelous. |
