| Dependent variable | It is the responding variable. It is the outcome or results based on the independent variable. |
| Constants | Factors that remain the same from one group to the next in an experiment. |
| Control group | The group that behaves under normal conditions. It does not get the variable being tested. |
| Experimental group | The group that recieves the independent variable. |
| Hypothesis | An educated guess that is testable. |
| Conclusion | A summary that explains the results from the experiment. It will indicate whether the hypothesis was accepted or rejected. |
| Scientific method | A process about how scientists actually operate and their approach to solving a problem in nature. |
| Excretion | The removal of waste. |
| Respiration | The making and releasing of energy. All living things perform respiration either aerobically, anaerobically, or both. Humans perform both. |
| Synthesis | To make or build molecules. |
| Nutrition | To obtain and process food either autotrophically or heterotrophically. |
| Growth | To increase in cell size or number. |
| Reproduction | To make offspring either sexually or asexually. |
| Regulation | To control or coordinate the activities of the cell. |
| Adapt | To change over time. Populations can adapt, but not individuals. |
| Respond | A reaction to a stimulus. |
| Stimulus | Anything that triggers a response. It could be internal or external. |
| Homeostasis | To maintain internal balance. All living things maintain homeostasis. |
| Organization | All living things are made of cells. Cells are made of ogranelles. Organelles are made of molecules. Molecules are made of atoms that are bonded together. |
| Genetic information | All living things have genetic coding in the form of DNA. |
