anterior body parts in front of the body
ventral body parts in front of the body towards the belly
posterior body parts on the back of the body
dorsal body parts on the back of the body
medial body parts close to the midline
lateral body parts away from the midline, to the side
proximal body parts close
distal body parts away
apex tip of summit of an organ
base bottom or lower part of your organ
superficial more towards the surface of the body
deep further away from the surface of the body
supine body horizontal facing up (laying on back)
prone body horizontal spine is up (laying on stomach)
