Participles

Study these cards to learn more about participals

Participle A verb form acting as an Adjective
Ending Most end in -ing or -ed; but may have other endings
Where in the sentence? Acting as an adjective, you will find participles before nouns. They also come in phrases which will describe a noun; most often the subject.
How many words? Maybe one or an entire phrase.
Example sentence: The running water is crystal clear. Running is the present participle, describing the subject water.
As a verbal, a participle can... take on the power of a verb and have other parts of speech attached such as a direct object, adverb, or even a prepositional phrase.
