What happens when you mix a solid into a liquid? | If their molecules are attracted to each other the solid will dissolve, if not they will cluster together and form sediment. |
What happens when the molecules of a solid are attracted to the molecules of a liquid? | They spread apart and mix together evenly. |
What happens when the molecules of a solid aren't attracted to the molecules of a liquid? | Then they start clustering together as a solid. |
What do food scientists do? | Food scientists work to ensure that the products they develop have the desired properties. |
How do you know when something has dissolved? | When you mix a solid into a liquid until you can't see it anymore it has dissolved. |
What happens if the water is soluble? | If a substance is soluble, it means it can dissolve in water, or that the substances molecules are attracted to water. |
What happens if the water isn't soluble? | If a substance is not soluble, it means it can't dissolve in water, or that the the substances molecules are not attracted to water. |
What do models do? | Models show things that are too small to observe, but can help explain what is observable. |
Dissolve | to mix evenly into a liquid by breaking apart into peices that are too small to see. |
Soluble | able to dissolve in water or another liquid. |
