| trigeminal | connects facial skin, teeth to brain, connects chewing muscles to brain-connects sensation from teeth to brain, transmits motor muscles to jaw for chewing-both |
| abducens | connects brain to eye muscles-transmits messages to brain to turn eye outward- motor |
| facial | connects taste buds to brain, brain to muscles of face-able to transmit taste from the anterior 2/3 of tongue, move facial muslces for expression as well as send messages to lacrimal and salivary glands-both |
