Vocab 10 - Elec Eng.

End of Semester Assignment

TermDefinition
Voltage An electromotive force or potential difference expressed in Volts
Ampere/Amp DA measure of the amount of electric charge in motion per unit time
Ohms Law A law stating that electric current is proportional to Voltage, and inversely proportional to resistance
Ohms The resistance in a circuit transmitting a current of one ampere when subjected to a potential difference of one volt.
Capacitance The ability of a system to store an electric charge.
Energy Density The amount of energy stored by the material per unit volume
AC Circuit Alternating current circuits are powered by an alternating source which are sinusoidal and change periodically in direction and magnitude
DC Circuit A Direct Current circuit is a circuit that Electric Current flows through in one direction
Power Supply A power supply is an electrical device that supplies electric power to an electrical load
Inverter switching circuit that converts direct current to alternating current.
Farad the basic unit of measure in capacitors
Energy Electrical energy measured in kilo-watt hours
Electromagnetic Energy energy contained in electromagnetic fields and associated polarizable and magnetizable media
Electrolyte current-conducting solution between two electrodes or plates of a capacitor
Diode a two-terminal device that permits the flow of electric current in only one direction
Dielectric a medium that exhibits negligible or no electrical conductivity and thus acts as a good electrical insulator
Clock Cycle one complete event of a synchronous system’s timer, including both the high and low periods.
Circuit a physical device consisting of an interconnection of elements, or a topological model of such a device
Charge Density describes the distribution of charge along a line, on a surface or in a volume
Charge Conservation physical law (derived from Maxwell’s equations) indicating that no change in the total charge within a certain volume can exist without the proper flow of charge (current) through that volume

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
