T6.3 Stars and Galaxies

parallax a way to determine the distance to nearby stars and other objects
star systems groups of two or more stars
binary stars system of two stars that are gravitationally bound to and in orbit around each other
multiple star systems system of three or more stars orbiting each other
exoplanet a planet revolving around a star outside our own solar system
star clusters many stars loose and disorganized in larger groupings
globular clusters large groupings(possibly more than a million stars) of older stars in a rounded formation
galaxy a group of single stars, star systems, star clusters, dust, and gas bound together by gravity.
Spiral Galaxies have a bulge in the center and arms that spiral outward like pinwheels
Elliptical Galaxies rounded, but may be elongated and slightly flattened
Irregular Galaxies do not have regular shapes
Quasars active, young galaxies with black holes at their glowing center
