| Virus | A non-living dependent on host cells for replication of genetic material |
| HIV | A retrovirus that invades T-cells attacking the immune system and resulting in AIDS. |
| Pathogen | Anything capable of causing infectious diseases. |
| Microorganism | An organism that is too small to be seen with the naked eye |
| Bacteria | Microorganisms important as decomposers : widely distributed and can break down just about any type of organic matter |
| Fungus | Heterotrophic eukaryotes that reproduce through asexual spores:break down dead materials and can spread disease. |
| Parasite | Lives in or on another organism (host) and derives nourishment from them,resulting in harm to the host organism. |
| Epidemic | A widespread infectious disease that affects a single community at a specific time:can become a pandemic, if not contained and stooped. |
| Antibiotic | A medicine that destroys or stops the growth or spread of microorganisms. |
| Host | An organism in which a parasite resides and / or derives nutrients from. |
| Vaccine | An injection of a killed or weakend pathogen that helps build an organisms's immune system against specific diseases. |
| Disease | A disorder in an organism that produces adverse effetcs and is not a result of physical injury:can beidentified by specific signs or symptoms and canaffect one or more parts of the organism. |
| Pandemic | A widespread infectious disease that affects a whole country,multiple countries or the whole world ; starts as an epidemic that was not contained and stopped. |
