Accretion When objects collide and stick together
Terrestrial Planet A rocky planet
Jovian Planet A gas planet
Planetesimal The seed of a baby planet
Protoplanet When an object has enough mass to have gravity but is not yet spherical
Dwarf Planet An object that has enough mass to be round but has not cleared its orbit
Oort Cloud The outer edges of our solar system where comets come from
Asteroid Belt Located between Jupiter and Mars
Astronomical Unit The average distance between the Earth and Sun
Superior Conjunction A planet that is further from the sun than Earth is on on the opposite side of the sun
Inferior Conjunction A planet that is closer to the sun than Earth is and is on the same side of the sun
Opposition The Earth is in the middle of a line between the planet and the sun
Aphelion The location of an object when it is furthest from the star it orbits
Perihelion The location of an object when it is closest from the star it orbits
