what does a element do? makes up matter
what is a element? groups of same kind of atom
what does a element look like? the periodic table
what does a chemical formula do? it represents the atoms of the elements and their ratios in a chemical compound
what is a chemical formula? element symbol with the amount of each one noted with a small number after the symbol
what does a chemical formula look like? anythign like h2o h o and co2
what does a compound do? combination of different atoms bonded together to make new substances
what is a compound? substance made of two or more types of atoms bonded together
what does a compound look like? two hydrogen and one oxygen to make H20
what does matter do? makes up everything around us
what is matter? anything that has mass and takes up space
what does matter look like? anything you can see
what does subscript do? a number written to the right of a chemical symbol and slightly below it
what is subscript? shows how many atoms are in a substance
what does it look like ? a small number to he bottom right of the chemical symbol
