PVA 4th Grade - Patterns of Earth's Features

Canyons deep, narrow areas surrounded by a mountain's steep sides.
Butte a single hill that has steep sides and a flat top.
Pattern something that appears or occurs again and again in the same way.
Faults crack's in the Earth's crust.
Trenches long, narrow, sunken areas in the ocean floor.
Mountains are an elevated landform found on the Earth's surface.
Mountain ranges are lines of mountains connected by high ground.
A plateau is a large area of raised flat land that extends over a great distance.
Cliffs are steep rock faces at the edge of a body of water.
Geologists study mountains because they are one kind of landform that occurs in patterns across Earth's surface.
Mountains and volcanoes are common along the edges of Earth's plates.
Earth's surface is divided into plates made of rock that crash together and form mountains and volcanoes.
Earthquakes and volcanoes occur along faults, or cracks in the Earth's crust.
Volcanoes form at place where magma, or molten rock, reaches Earth's surface.
Volcanoes and earthquakes are common along a section of the Earth called The Ring of Fire found in the Pacific Ocean.
There are many landforms under the oceans.
Under the oceans you can find the following landforms: trenches canyons mountains volcanoes
