| Geocentric | A model of the universe in which Earth is at the center of the revolving planets and stars. |
| Heliocentric | A model of the solar system in which Earth and the other planets revolve around the sun |

| Jovian | gas giants planets |
| Rotation | The spinning of Earth on its axis |
| Revolution | the movement of one object around another |
| comet | A ball of frozen dust and rock that orbits the sun and has a tail that glows |
| asteroid | a small rocky body orbiting the sun |
| meteor | A streak of light in the sky produced by the burning of a meteoroid in Earth's atmosphere. |
| Ellipse | A elongated circle, or oval shape, the shape of the planets orbit. |
| Foci | the two points inside an ellipse |
| Foucault Pendulum | A device which provides evidence that the earth rotates |
| Coriolis effect | The effect of Earth's rotation on the direction of winds and currents. |
| Latitude | Distance north or south of the equator |
| Longitude | Distance east or west of the prime meridian, measured in degrees |
