Anterior Referring to the front
Posterior Referring to the back
Medullary Inner portion or cavity of an organ
Cortical Outer region or layer of an organ
Lumen Hollow area of an organ
Basal Referring to the base or widest part of an organ
Apical Referring to the narrow tip of an organ
Synarthroses Type of joint that is immovable
Amphiarthroses Type of joint that permits slight movement
Diarthroses Type of joint that is fully movable
Sympathetic (division) Responsible for "fight or flight" response
Parasympathetic (division) Responsible for "rest and repair" response
Enteric nervous system Intestinal or "gut" nervous system/division
White matter Myelinated fibers; contains myelin that makes fibers appear white
Gray matter Unmyelinated fibers
