Lipids found in fish and sunflower oil, used to make cell membranes, provide insulation and protection of organs and energy store
Proteins + deficiency Found in poultry, red meat and dairy products. Growth and repair of tissues, kwashiokor, swollen abdomen
Vitamin A +deficiency Maintains retina in the eye, night blindess
Vitamin C maintain healthy connective tissue, scurvy, bleeding gums
Vitamin D Helps bone absorb calcium, rickets
Calcium+defiency maintains teeth and bones
Iron Used to make haemoglobin in red blood cells. Women more likely to have iron deficiency due to blood loss during menstruation or even childbirth
Water maintains osmosis in cells
Fibre Prevents constipation
