Heat transfer science terms
| Term | Definition |

| Thermal Heat Energy | Total amount of kinetic movement and potential (stored) energies in the molecules of a substance |
| Electromagnetic Waves | Waves traveling through space carrying electromagnetic radiant energy |
| Expand | the act of growing or increasing |
| Heat | the transfer of thermal energy from a warmer to a cooler object |
| Conductor | a material that is good at transmitting energy or electricity |
| Contract | the act of shrinking or decreasing |
| Convection | Movement in gas or liquid in which the warmer parts rise and the cooler parts sink |
| Temperature | a measurement of how hot or cold something |
| Particles | a unit of matter/what makes up matter |
| Radiation | Energy that comes from a heat source In the form of rays or waves you can't see |
| Transfer | to move someone or something from one place to another |
| Heat resistent | not easily burned or melted/ is able to resist heat |
| Absorb | o take in or swallow up. |
| Transmit | o send from one person or place to another |
| Density | measurement of how tightly packed the particles in a material are |
| Conduction | When heat moves from a warmer object to a cooler object by touching |
| Insulator | a material that allows little or no heat electricity or sound to pass through |
| Cycle | events that are repeated in the same order |
