| axis | imaginary line that goes through the center of an object |
| star | a space object that gives off its own heat and light |
| apparent brightness | how bright a start looks from Earth |
| absolute brightness | how bright a star really is |
| light-year | distance light travels in one year |
| rotation | to spin on an axis |
| reflect | to bounce back light |
| solar eclipse | an event during which the moon's shadow blocks all or some of the sun's light |
