plants animals and other organisms

TermDefinition
photosynthesis The process by which plants use the suns energy to make food.
chemosynthesis The process by which bacteria turn chemical energy into food.
producers Organisms in an ecosystem that makes their own food. also called autographs.
consumers Organism in an ecosystem that cannot make their own food and must obtain food from other sources. Also called heterothephs.
herbivores Obtain energy by eating plants.
carnivors Obtain energy by eating other consumers.
omnivores Obtain energy by eating both producers and consumers.
Decomposers Obtain energy by breaking down the remains of dead organisms or waste of living organisms.
