Anterior Referring to the front
Posterior Referring to the back

Medullary Inner portion or cavity of an organ
Cortical Outer region or layer of an organ
Cervical Type of vertebrae that comprises the neck; 7 total
Thoracic Type of vertebrae that comprises the chest; 12 total
Lumbar Type of vertebrae that comprises the lower back; 5 total
True ribs Ribs that attach directly to the sternum
False ribs Ribs that do not attach directly to the sternum; attaches to the sternum by proxy
Floating ribs Ribs that have no attachment to the sternum
