QuestionAnswer
Ocean- a very large expanse of sea, in particular each of the main areas into which the sea is divided geographically.
Estuary- body of water where freshwater from the river meets and mixes with salt water from the ocean
Turbidity- amount of cloudiness in the water
Salinity amount of salt in the water
Plankton plant-like organisms; make their food by photosynthesis
Brackish Water a mixture of freshwater and salt water; found in estuaries
Shore (Intertidal Zone) [art of ocean nearest to land;
Open Ocean (Pelagic Zone)- massive area of ocean; lots of biodiversity; sunlight reaches to 200 meters deep
Deep Ocean (Benthic Zone)- thousands of meters below the surface of the ocean; no light in this zone; hydrothermal vents and chemo synthesis characterize this zone
