MIG intro

The three main types of transfer for MIG? Short Circuit, Globular, Spray
The main voltage type for Semi-Automatic welding? CV Current Voltage
What is the job of a flow meter? The flowmeter controls the rate of flow of shielding gas to the gun; calibrated by a volume flow rate in litres per minute (L/min) or cubic feet per hour (CFH). It tells you the pressure of the gas being used.
Drive rolls used? V-groove, U-groove, Knurled
Duty Cycle The amount of time a machine can be used in 10 minute intervals without needing a break for example 60% would run for 6 minutes and then need a 4 minute break
In Semi-automatic welding you control? The wire feed speed and voltage
Drive rolls are Specific to the diameter of wire being used, you need to be mindful not to use too large or too small of wire on drive rolls
DCEP Direct Current Electrode Positive is used with GMAW, FCAW-G, MCAW
The jog function controls what? It feeds deenergized wire without using gas
What are some causes of Birds Nesting? Too much pressure on the drive rolls, wires breaking in the gun, kinked liner
What do rupture discs do? If the cylinder becomes too hot or has excessive pressure, the rupture disc will release and slowly allow the gas to escape avoiding an explosion.
Are gas cylinders colour coated? No
