Open Ocean (Pelagic Zone) massive area of ocean; lots of biodiversity; sunlight reaches to 200 meters deep
Deep Ocean (Benthic Zone) thousands of meters below the surface of the ocean; no light in this zone; hydrothermal vents and chemosynthesis characterize this zone
