Matter

TermDefinition
Matter Anything that has mass and takes up space
Water Cycle the cycle of water, the order is evaporation, transpiration, condensation, precipitation, and runoff
Evaporation a liquid changes from its liquid state to a gaseous state
Condensation gas is changed into a liquid. The water vapor cools down
Precipitation Small droplets of water in clouds from larger droplets
Runoff Precipitation that did not get absorbed into the soil or did not evaporate, and therefore, made its way from the ground surface into places that water collects
Collection The fallen precipitation is then collected in bodies of water
Transpiration Evaporation through a plant's leaves
Qualitative `What something looks like
Quantitative Numbers, measurments
Solid When molecules are tight together, has its own shape
Liquid When molecules are moving around a little, can shape anything the liquid is inside
Gas When molecules are fast an have a lot of space between them
Chemical Change A substance becomes a whole new substance
Physical Change An object looks different but the molecules don"t change
Humidity The amount of water vapor in the air
Water vapor Water in the form of a gas
Mixture Two substances mixed together but do not make a new substance
