What is the "IF" part of a hypothesis? Independent variable

Dependent varible the RESULT of the factor you changed
Independent varible the factor that YOU intentionally CHANGE
Controlled Group, the group in an experiment that does not receive treatment, used for comparison( 1 thing)
Controlled varible Quantities that a scientist wants to remain constant so the experiment is valid
How do you create a graph with independent and dependent variables? DRY and MIX
What does a beaker measure? Volume
What does a graduated cylinder measure? Volume
What does a graduated syringe measure? Volume
What does a triple beam balance measure? Mass
What does a ruler/meter stick measure? Length
What does a thermometer measure? Temperature
Units for Volume? Liquid-mL Solids-cm^3
Units for Mass? g
Units for temperature? Degrees C
Units for Length? m,cm,mm
Meniscus? Curvature on the surface of water
Formula for Density? D=M/V
How to find the volume of a solid? Subtract the water measurement in a beaker with the solid in it and the measurement of the water in a beaker by itself. use units cm^3
Purpose of a graph in a lab report? makes the observed data more accurate
Scientific method: question pick something your curious about
Scientific method: hypothesis make an educated guess at your question's answer
scientific method: experiment make a plan and test your hypothesis
