PLTW Vocab Lesson 1

TermDefinition
Cerebral Palsy A condition marked by impaired muscle coordination (spastic paralysis) and/or other disabilities, typically caused by damage to the brain before or at birth.
Collaboration The action of working with someone to produce or create something.
Decision Matrix A list of values in rows and columns that allows an analyst to systematically identify, analyze, and rate the performance of relationships between sets of values and information.
Design Process A tool that helps you break down large projects into smaller, easier-to handle stages.
Evaluate To determine or fix the value of.
Model Representation of a person or thing or of a proposed structure, typically on a smaller scale than the original.
Orthosis A surgical appliance that exerts external forces on part of the body to support joints or correct deformity.
Prototype A first, typical or preliminary model of something, especially a machine, from which other forms are developed or copied.
Solution A means of solving a problem or dealing with a difficult situation
Spastic Hemiplegia A type of cerebral palsy that occurs when the condition of muscle stiffness impacts one full side of the body.
Stabilize Make or become unlikely to give way or overturn.
Team Norms Guidelines for how the team members will interact and communicate.
