Ecosystem All of the communities and non-living things in an area Ex. Turtles, reeds, water
Population A group of similar organisms living in the same place
Atom/Molecule Basic unit of a chemical element/2 or more atoms bonded together
Cell The smallest unit of life capable of carrying out all of the functions of living things
Tissue A group of cells that work together to perform a specific funtion Ex. Muscle Tissue
Organ 2 or more types of tissues working together to perform a specific function Ex. heart
Spontaneous Generation a belief that life begins when an outside force enters a non-living thing

Parasitism A type of relationship that helps one partner and hurts the other
law and theory Law- what happens, Theory- why it happened like that

Theory is a possible explanation to try and understand something
Law describes what happens based off of observations and facts
Commensalism A type of relationship that benifits one partner and doesn't affect the other one
Mutalism A type of relationship that helps both partners

Covalent Bond Sharing of electrons
Ionic Bond Transfer of electrons
Nucleic Acids Large complex molecules that carry genetic information
Protiens Large complex molecules composed of smaller molecules called amino acid
Cellulose A carb that's structural in plant cell walls
Steroids Structural and control, choleserol part of the membranes that surround cells
Oil Long term energy storage
DNA A molecule that carries genetic information and determines traits.
Ecosystem A community of living and nonliving things that interact with each other in a particular environment.
Homeostasis The ability of an organism to maintain a stable internal environment.
Enzyme A protein that acts as a catalyst for chemical reactions in living organisms.
Nucleus The central part of a cell that contains genetic material.
Organism A living thing that carries out life processes such as respiration and reproduction.
