Module 4 - Water Quality

TermDefinition
Point Source Pollution The source of the pollution can be traced back to a single place. Example: sludge coming out of an industrial pipe into the river
Non Point Source Pollution The source of the pollution isn't from one single place. Example: runoff from the highway coming from automobiles
Runoff Excess water that moves across land from higher points to lower points due to the force of gravity.
Pollutant any harmful substance that has negative effects on humans, animals or plants.
wastewater water that drains away from homes, schools, businesses or factories, that may contain harmful pollutants like sewage or chemicals.
