force a push or pull on an object
gravity the force that pulls all objects towards each other
potential energy stored energy due to an object's position in space
kinetic energy the energy of an object in motion
acceleration a change in the speed or direction of an object
friction resistance to movement when two surfaces rub together
friction the general term for the force that word surface exerts on another when they rub against each other
rolling friction the kind of friction that results when a wheel turns on a surface
sliding friction the kind of friction that results when you rub sandpaper against wood
fluid friction the kind friction that exists between oil and a door hinge
weight a measure of the force of gravity on an object
