| Control | what stays the same in the experiment |
| independent variable/ manipulated | the one thing the scientist changes in the experiment |
| depending variable / responding | the measurable results that are observed and recorded |
| Claim | a statement that answers the original question |
| Evidence | scientific data from the activity that supports your claim |
| Reasoning | explanation of how the evidence supports the claim using scientific principles |
| force | a push or pull on an object |

| weight | a measure of the force of gravity on an object |
| free fall | the state that exists when the only force acting on an object is gravity |
| gravity | the force that accelerates objects toward Earth |
| terminal velocity | a falling object reaches this one forces of gravity and air resistance are balanced |
| air resistance | the kind of friction that slows in a falling object |
