| Aquifer | Water stored in rock and soil underground |
| Climate Change | Long-term changes in temperatures and weather patterns. |
| Condensation | The phase of the water cycle when water vapor cools down and turns into water droplets. |
| Evaporation | The phase of the water cycle when liquid water is heated by the sun and turns into vapor. |
| Infiltration | Movement of the water from the ground or surface |
| Interception | Precipitation that doesn’t reach the ground because leaves, buildings and other objects get in the way. |
| Percolation | The movement of water through the soil. |
| Precipitation | The phase of the water cycle in which water falls, in a liquid (rain) or solid (snow, sleet) state, from the earth's atmosphere to the earth. |
| Transpiration | The phase of the water cycle in which plants and trees respond to heat from the sun by releasing liquid water into the air. |
| Urban Water Cycle | The process by which humans extract, process, distribute and consume water. |
| Urbanization | The growth of cities. |
